I Used to Drink and Do Drugs

What motivated you to get your GED degree? I moved here from the Fiji Islands 6 years ago with my wife and two daughters. We had two more boys (one is two years old, and the other is seven months old). I have been struggling to make ends meet for the past few months. We lost our vehicle to the bank, and yes, we have been through a lot the past few months. I came to realize that I had to get my GED in order to enable me to take college courses that will help me get a better job and a better life for my beloved family.

How have your friends and family helped you? My eldest daughter graduated High School last year, and ever since, sheโ€™s been encouraging me to get my GED certificate.

What problems have you faced? I used to drink and do drugs. I quit one year ago, thanks to my eldest daughter who helped me.

What do you hope to gain from getting your GED degree? I want to provide a better life for my family and encourage other people to do this.
