Ontario GED® Testing
The Canadian GED® is administered separately by each province. The GEDs Canada awards to successful candidates also vary from province to province, since they are awarded by the province’s government. The GED Ontario diploma awarded to successful test-takers is called the Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate. In Ontario, the GED test is administered by the Independent Learning Centre, and the Canadian GED tests in Ontario are offered in English and French.

GED Ontario General Information
GED Ontario Test Eligibility
To take the Canadian GED tests in Ontario, you must:
- 1. be at least 18 years old;
- 2. have not graduated from high school;
- 3. have been out of the school system for at least one full year; and
- 4. be a resident of Ontario
GED Ontario Retesting
You may retest, or rewrite, the Ontario GED exam:
- 1. if your standard score on a subject test is less than 450, or
- 2. if an employer or educational institution requires a higher score (A written request from the employer or educational institution is required.)
A rewrite is allowed with no waiting period unless your score is less than 400. If your score is less than 400, you must wait three months before rewriting. You are encouraged to do some form of preparation during that time. Further rewrites are possible; however, you must wait until the following calendar year. Tests may be written only twice in any calendar year, from January 1 to December 31.
GED Ontario Transcripts
If you took the GED tests in Ontario, you can request your GED results from the Independent Learning Centre. Fill out the Release of GED test results form, and return it to the address on the form, along with a payment of $10 per transcript and/or certificate. See the form for more information.

GED Ontario Test Centers
The Independent Learning Centre can arrange group Ontario GED testing for 20 or more candidates, which gives local Canadian GED organizations the ability to offer GED testing to a group of candidates at a convenient location. If you are part of a study group or GED Ontario class or program, GED testing may be organized in a location near you through group GED testing. Find out more about group Ontario GED testing.
