Well Good advice. But still unable to get Idea or moving to start to write essay I am worried to take my test on January 15th . and I need to start or just giving up. I did try reading every day for one month and copying others. Or, what was the other word for copying statements making it your own?
Still having hard time to come up with an idea to write!

Okay, Vic, here’s some more advice! Hopefully we can get you going:

You’ve worked from some other people’s essays… now it’s time to start one on your own. Take some GED essay topics (see below) and try starting from scratch. Sit down with one of them and think about how it relates to your life, what you think about it, what it makes you think of. Seriously, don’t worry at all about what exactly you should write, just start getting ideas out there. That’s what all the freewriting and word webs come down to… getting SOME ideas down on paper, whatever they are.

Once you have some ideas to work on, then you can start to organize them into an essay, pick the ones you like, don’t use the ones you don’t like. It might take you some time to think of things at first. Don’t worry about the time right away. Just start with ANY ideas, even if you don’t think they’re very good. It doesn’t have to be perfect… and getting started is more important than making it perfect or even great.

So, work all the way through writing one, no matter how long it takes. Then, practice with other topics, and try to bring your time down. Here’s a list of topics to work with:

Topic 1
What are three qualities you value in a friend?
In your essay, describe those qualities and explain why they are important to you. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 2
Many American children watch 3 or more hours of television a day.
Is watching television a good or bad influence on children? Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 3
What would your perfect job be?
In your essay, identify your perfect job and explain why that job would be perfect for you. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 4
Why do you want to get your GED certificate?
In your essay, explain what you hope to gain by passing the GED. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 5
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Think of a time when a picture or image was important in communicating to you. Tell about that time and explain how the picture or image was important. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 6
Would you rather own a truck or a passenger car?
In your essay, explain why one vehicle would be better for you. Explain advantages and disadvantages of each kind. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 7
How has the invention of the Internet affected everyday life?
In your essay, explain how the Internet has affected you and the world around you. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 8
What is the most important invention?
Choose an invention that has affected your life and explain why you think it’s the most important invention. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 9
What is the greatest problem facing our country today?
Explain what issue you believe is most important to our country and why it is important to deal with this issue. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

Topic 10
Two-thirds of US adults are overweight or obese.
In your essay, explain what factors cause American adults to become and stay overweight. Use your personal observations, experience, and knowledge to support your essay.

    Obesity in America
One-there’d of Americans are over Wight and is becoming serious health issue in America, despite of growing weight control industry the obesity still growing overwhelmingly.
Listening to Individuals that are overweight the afford that they have tried to lose weight some where successful for short period of time some where hold the weight of for very long time and the regained the weight back more then what they start with.
Each case varies from the other. One gentleman weighs 380 Lbs. he had Tommy tuck in 2004 and he was on strict diet , no yeast no starch and no heavy meals within one year he has lost 0ver 200 pounds and here he was happy camper 6’3” slim Jim from Chicago. Two years pass he started to gain weight within 6 months he was already at 300 pounds Mark .
Other lady in her Forties Weight 360 pounds 6’ tall. She also had tummy tuck strict diet kept for 6 months could not handle it, lost 60pounds gained back 80 pounds.
The Obesity issue we have in America just can’t pin point the reason for the diseases, and finding the cure or solution to the disease, there is verity of issues and causes to the problem. : Obesity, Temptation. Movement or exercise, TV, Video Games, and now Internet.
Obesity also comes from Lack of confidence, insecurity, stress, depression and daily pressure that we try to eat our way out.
Temptation; is the form of being exposed to it by commercials and bulletin boards and the restaurants that are well visible while driving down the road. For example : I myself not fan of hot dogs or Hamburgers then when I am driving on the freeway I pass by three MacDonald’s sign, and if I see the fourth one that’s it can’t take it any more even if I was not hungry I have to sink my teeth in that triple staked quarter ponder. When at Price Costco, although, I hat Hot dog I will get two of them, It is just unbelievable how tempting it is not to get one or two.
Lack of Exercise: (once I remember in a move the story was young lady has visitor from Poland the visitor was her cousin she never saw. she brings him to her apartment in Hollywood she lived on second story they take the elevator to go to her flat, in the morning cousin wakes up from noise of a step master that his host was on. He asks her:’ what you are doing’? She explains the purpose of the machine and she also had a treadmill and explains that too. His reply was: “you Americans are crazy, you spend 100s of thousand of Dollars for Elevators for you not to use the stairways, and then spend other thousands for equipment to pretend using stares. You drive your car to get to store just ½ mile away and try to walk 5 mile on this thing” so as we see we are crazy we drive home from work in rush hours and we drive to gym and try to park most closes parking space to the entrance of the gym so we don’t walk carrying the gym bag to long and then we start exercise by walking on treadmill or lifting weight.
TV has also contributed for lake of movement, shows episodes, reality shows and on and on and on. We cannot miss a show we need to talk about it at the office next day make believe it is real life story or may be they are. To involved we forget what we should have done for our better life. Or seeing every one else is screwed with their life it makes us feel better and appreciate what we have and order a Pizza.
Video Games that is hurting our kids it did start as good gesture to keep kids from becoming gangsters and drug dealers well the kids still dealing in drugs and still getting pregnant at early age and still having gang violence , and in addition increased obesity. And kids are becoming couch potatoes and they are not dropping the habit of video games up to there mid thirties.
Internet also is good to have but most of the kids are sitting and chatting nonsense, and mommy assuming they are doing home work and keep sending them cookies and soda drinks and energy drinks which sugar level is increasing and developing additional diseases called diabetes.
Lack of confidence and depression, in any age this can be serious Obesity case. When I lost my job after working for company over 10 years just lost trust in the society and confidence, and I have noticed my weight going up and up I tried to stop it, but no avail.
20 years ago I weighed 205 pound which I assumed my self over weight at the time , became a member for a gym and attended every day some times all day at the time within 6 moths I have lost over 35 pounds and I was doing great. Kept it off for 5 to 6 years and noticed gradually my weight came back and exceeded my original weight. No exercise is helping me I have pain all over cannot handle it anymore so the pressure just trough me over until gave up trying now I weight over 265 pounds!
The problem of Obesity will not have a solid one solution it may have solution for cretin individuals but not as society , there will be always the one- third will be Obese or even increase to 2/5th of population as Obese.
We have to except the fact that Obesity will stay and instead of trying to push ourselves we also need to control the distributors of the disease to protect the next generation. FDA should step in and regulate the sugar contents in all the Drinks and food products readily available for everyone. Should ban energy drinks that contain sugar even smarter in us are fallen in this scammers who building empires on their falls claims, some even claim their product dos not contain sugar. This product should be tested by FDA and when results come they should be prosecuted and charged with attempt to mass Murder. Eventually we may not be able to proof how many people became obese because of their product but it is very possible that happened. That is why we need to call it “Attempt to Commit Mass Murder for profit”.
For fast food restaurant such as Mc Donald’s, Burger kings and likes can not have commercials on TV on kids Channels including and not limited to any High Sugar Product such as junk Juices with High in sugar contents , or regulating such product.
Well, this is only solution unfortunately this will never happen, not in United States of America.

Jayblak, this is actually really good news. All you need to do is improve your writing score 30 or more. That means, you can be focused. Do you know what your essay score was? Improving your essay score by 1 will likely bring your total score up by what you need. So, focusing on writing a really good GED-type essay is a great idea. If I were you, I’d also review grammar, usage, and organization for the multiple choice test, to be as prepared as possible, but I’d probably spend most of my time preparing to write a great essay.
