The easiest way to improve on the writing test is to write a great essay. First, you do not have to print. You can either print or use handwriting. If your handwriting is difficult to read, then print. You want your essay to be easily readable. It's very important to answer the prompt and have a well structured essay from 4-6 paragraphs with an introduction, conclusion, a main idea, and details. I recommend looking through my blog to get an idea of what the essay requirements are, and then writing a practice essay. If you'd like to post an essay you wrote, I can let you know what I think.
