That be the truth, D-man. I bet you'll pass it no problem. Your writing skills look good, and if you keep practicing with those tough word problems, it's gonna be cake for you. Good luck!

I checked out the site. The word problems look a bit tough. Should make for some good practice. I feel I could pass the GED now, but I would feel safer with more practice. I think I'll get her down! I'll tell you what; it's been a tough ride on catching up to school work. I missed a lot in high school. Wish I had finished. I'll feel a lot better when I get the GED out of the way. Things are getting tough in the job world, and a GED is a necessity today. When I was young and in my prime, a GED or High school diploma was not necessary. Today you gotta have it.

When you're changin' a fraction to get the denominators to be the same, you gotta multiply the top number and the bottom number by the same number.

So if you want both denominators to be 4 in your example, you times both by 2.

1 × 2 = 2
2 × 2 = 4

Now your example is:

2/4 + 2/4

and you can reduce that down, 'cause 4 ain't the lowest common denominator, is it?

1/2 + 1/2 = 2/2 or 1

That make sense? You just gotta figure out what you multiply the denominator by to get the LCD. Then multiply the numerator by the same thing.

What up, Dwain? Here's a site with some more difficult word problems:

http://www.purplemath.com/modules/index.htm

You gotta scroll down a little to find the word problem section. Good luck, man.

The "Math Playground" link Here’s a bunch of word problems is O.K. for lower skills, such as addition and subtraction word problems, but is there another link for the tougher stuff, for practice sake, like algebra word problems.

Yo Sheila,

If you feel like you know your stuff, first thing you got to do is have confidence. Feel proud! If you know it, but still feel scared, you'll freeze up with test time comes.

Second, when you studied before, did you do it all real quick, like right before the test? Crammin' for tests never work. You gotta learn the material slow, over several days or weeks to let it all sink in. If you learn it the night before, it's almost a guarantee you forget it the next day for the test.

Third, make sure you as relaxed as possible for the test. Get lots of sleep, have a good breakfast, listen to some relaxing music or somethin' before goin' in. If you stressed, you forget things for sure.

Hope that helped, girl. Good luck!
