The land of opportunity…

Name: Abdiqani
Age: 33
City and State: Renton, WA

I would like to take a GED diploma because I want to go to college, and they told me you have to have either high school or GED to start at the college. This is why I need to get a GED.

My family can’t help me that much because they are immigrants at the US, also they didn’t have that much education.

First, I need a teacher who helps me and teaches me, and I can do it. I hope if i get my GED I will continue my education up to University. I am from Africa. I have been in the US for five years, and I am willing to get the opportunity of the US. When I was in Africa I ALWAYS heard the US is the land of opportunities, still I am looking for them.

Abdiqani,

There is opportunity in the U.S., and you’re on the right track to find it! The best jobs in the U.S. depend on education. High school graduates and people with GEDs make thousands more than people without diplomas, and college graduates on average get an even bigger leap in pay. There’s a lot out there, and now’s the time to get educated.

The GED Academy program can help. It’s especially hard, as an immigrant, because you’re learning new language skills. You probably already have many of the skills the GED tests, but you need to improve reading and writing, and probably brush up in some other areas. Our online program lets you study at home, whenever you have time, and lets you focus on the skills you need to gain.

You might need some extra help, especially with language. The Renton Technical College has a GED program that might help you out. Here’s the contact information:

Did you ever try passGED.com? I think that program was very helpful; I passed my GED the first time I took the test. I didn’t have much education in my country. I only attend 7 years of school in my whole life. English wasn’t my first language, but the passGED.com made me feel confident. Is not all about what you know is also about how to choose the best answers, if you don’t understand the question. The only thing I study hard was my Math, and then the rest was all about reading comprehension. I hope you will get your GED soon because GED is really important to move on in life and to take advantage of opportunity in the US. I’m sure the United States is the land of opportunity, to the people that are willing to work hard and determined to make their dream come true. Good Luck!!! You Can Do It!!!
