What motivated you to get your GED? I need a GED to become a bigger and better person. I haven’t started yet cause I can’t find a good one and one that I can take online. I’m trying to get the GED over with so I can become a teacher.

How have your friends and family motivated, helped, or inspired you?  My mom told me to get up and do something with my life cause I always dreamed of being a teacher but I don’t think I will ever find a GED that will help me with that. My boyfriend has helped me a lot trying to find a nice GED online school so I will get it done and do it but we can’t find one.

What problems have you faced?  I have problems with math, and many more. I have not solved them, they keep getting more and more problems for me. That’s why I need an online GED so they won’t be a problem anymore.

What do you hope to achieve with your GED?  I hope getting my life together and going big. After I get my GED I’m going to go to college to be a teacher.

I wish I could get my GED.

Jessica,

Thanks so much for sharing your story. A lot of people have trouble getting started on the path to their GED. You can get your GED. But there are a couple of things you need to know.

First, you can NOT take the GED test online. The GED test is only given at official test centers. Why? It’s an official test given by your state board of education, and they need to certify that you are the person taking the test and make sure the test is conducted fairly and without problems. If you took the test online, they would have no way of verifying who was taking the test. The reason the GED is so valuable is that you get a diploma from your state government. So, you have to go the official route.

Basically, the GED is just a test. It’s not too hard, if you get the right preparation. You can find great GED preparation online, that you can do at home. The GED Academy’s prep program is a complete program that teaches everything you need to know for your GED, one step at a time, so you can catch up in any areas you’re having trouble with.

But, no matter what preparation materials you use, we urge you to get your GED. Just start out by taking a practice test. See what the GED is really like. Maybe you don’t have as much studying to do as you think. If you pass a couple of the tests, go ahead and take the GED. Once you pass one section, you don’t have to take it again, and you’ll get that part over and done with.

Whatever tests you didn’t pass, just take them one at a time. Start with the one you did best with. It’ll be easier to study, and it’ll give you a chance to start becoming a better studier, and figure out how your studying will work best for you. Study that portion of the GED until you’re ready to take the test. Keep working at it. There are only 5 sections to the GED, and you can take them one at a time. Each time you pass one section, you’re one step closer to a brighter future.

Keep searching for study materials that work for you. If you can’t find the materials you need online, find an adult ed class in your area. If you’re in Weatherford, Texas, here’s a link to the Texas GED site:  http://www.tea.state.tx.us/ged/index.html. Most state departments of education have online information about the GED in your area and local adult ed classes for the GED.

You can accomplish this!
