I’ll never do it.
I really can’t read or write very well at all, and math there is no way. I dropped out of school because I felt like, why? I’ll never do it. I was in 11th grade and still only do 4th grade work i felt. still do. I want to get my GED because I want to be a cop or something where I can help kids.

Natasha,
The first thing you have to overcome to pass the GED is your attitude about yourself. You had a hard time in school… and we understand, because we hear similar stories from a lot of people. Guess what? It doesn’t mean you’re not smart, and it doesn’t mean you can’t learn. You can learn, and you can pass your GED.
We’ve gotten letters from people who thought they could never do simple math like multiplying and dividing, but who were able to learn GED math through our program. You can improve your reading, writing, math, and thinking skills. Whether it’s with the GED Academy program or with a community-based adult learning program, you can do it. Because you’re battling low self-esteem, you need to keep motivated. Set goals. Say, “Okay, I’m going to be able to pass the social studies test.” Then work on that goal… and when you reach it, celebrate!
In Arkansas, you need to pass an official practice test before you’re allowed to take the GED test. And that’s probably a good thing! Why? Because practice tests actually help you pass. They tell you what you need to study and what the test is like. Taking a practice test before you take the test actually improves your score. That’s why we include two online practice tests in our online study course to help you prepare for the test. You can find out more information about our program at our website, http://www.passged.com, and the Arkansas Department of Education has a GED website at http://dwe.arkansas.gov/ged.htm.
Remember your goal: you want to get a job where you can help children. You want the opportunity to do something meaningful in your community. You know that you can do great work. Well, you CAN pass the GED, too. That’s the first step! And to do it, you just need to believe in yourself.
