(1) Take math practice tests. Write down the questions that you can’t answer, and learn how to answer those questions. When you think you’re ready to take the GED math test again, take another practice test, to be sure. Practice tests will increase your score, get you comfortable with the test-taking process, and help you learn!

(2) Focus on learning basic math. All math builds on the basic concepts… learn how to work with fractions, decimals, percents… how to solve word problems and equations. The stronger your basic math is, the easier the harder math becomes!

(3) Get help! The GED prep program at http://www.passged.com has helped many GED students pass their math test. But there are also probably GED prep programs through local community organizations, community colleges, adult education centers, or libraries. If the type of studying you’re doing isn’t working, then find something that will work for you.

(4) Don’t get discouraged! Get encouragement from your family… your friends… and yourself! Give yourself a reward when you do well on a quiz, or remember a math formula. Set goals for your math learning, and tell everyone when you reach your goals! Motivation and belief in yourself is very important.
