I am making a goal for myself to get my GED in 6 months.

I am a 25 year old mom of 4. Three of my kids are going to school this year so I thought it was time for me to go back. I got married at a young age, left my home to go help his mother out, and ended up getting pregnant and just never went back until now. I want to get my GED to better myself, and show my kids anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I also want to get my GED so I can go to college for an ER nurse. I am making a goal for myself to get my GED in 6 months. That way by the time I am 30, I will already be out of college and doing a career. My dream is to go through school. It’s just time.

Monica,

Congratulations. You’ve got a solid goal: GED in six months. You can do it! Lots of people get their GED every year, and this year is your year. Just work at it a little bit every day. Start by taking a practice test to find out what you need to study. And if you think you can pass a couple of the tests, go ahead and take them…get your passing scores, and get them out of the way! Study the things that are easiest first, so that you’ll get a few tests done and can focus on the harder ones by themselves. It’s easier, and it’ll keep you motivated to know you’ve passed some of the tests.

Since your children are starting school, this is a great time to get your GED. It will help your children appreciate school to see their mom working on her education. We hear from a lot of mothers that their children do better in school when they see that their mom values education. That’s a gift that will help them throughout their lifetimes!

Come back and let us know when you get that GED!
