I have a goal to get my GED. My last grade was 9th and I left because I was getting too much in trouble. I’m getting older and need a better JOB……..without it I can’t get get far in life.

The first step to getting your GED is making it your goal. So, congratulations on taking the first step. This is something that you can do, no matter where you left off in school. Since you left in 9th grade, you’ll have to brush up on some skills, and maybe learn a few new things…but surprisingly, not too much. You’ll need to understand what the GED readers are looking for in a GED essay… you’ll need some basic math skills, too. Most of it you’ve seen before, but you might have forgotten. There will be some math that you haven’t had, like geometry, but there are programs that can explain it simply, so you can really get it…really understand. But the biggest thing that will help is learning how to think through and answer GED questions…that means learning important thinking skills like analysis and evaluation. Learning these skills isn’t hard…and it’s very valuable! So, to get to your goal, find a program that works for you to learn what you need to know. You might want to take a GED practice test, to see what it’s like and how much studying you’ll need to do…maybe you can even pass some of the sections right away. Then, you’ll be that much closer to your goal! You have a goal…now go and make your dreams happen! You really can do it.
