Now, I want better pay.
I’ve been living in the USA for 23 years. I left school in 1986. Now, I want better pay.

Froylan, congratulations on going for your GED! Make the commitment now… so that you can get on with your life. The economy is getting worse, and the GED definitely gives you an edge in getting a better job. The state of Utah, for example, says that only 15% of its jobs are available to people without a GED or high school diploma… that means 85% of the jobs out there aren’t available to you! And guess what? Those 85% of jobs are better paying, with better opportunities.
The GED isn’t too hard. But you do have to prepare. That means brushing up on high school skills. Since you’ve been out of school for a while, you may need to do some catching up. But that’s okay. You don’t have to learn a lot of facts and figures. Instead, you need to learn some basic math, reading, and writing. And you need to learn to think clearly about a question in order to figure out an answer.
Check with local community colleges and high schools to find out if there are GED adult education programs near you. See if there’s someone in your life, a family member or friend, who can help you study. And check out study-at-home programs. Find the best way for you to study for your GED, and go do it! The best time is now!
