I am always dreaming to get my GED.
My name is Loi, and I am from Viet Nam. I am a Montagnard refugee, I went to Cambodia camp in 2001 and then after that I came to America on July 2, 2002, and then I started going to school at GTCC. After I go to school, I am going to work, and I want my future to be the best. I am always dreaming to get my GED.
I live here by myself, nobody pays for my rent, and I need money to help my mom at my country. She is very poor there, and I worry about her a lot because it’s only her. My dad died 6 years ago now. I am thinking of her because she is very old. Maybe I’ll see her again or not!
I want to get my GED because I want to get a better job in my life, if I came here I go to high school. I hoped I would have got my GED by now, but I got older.
I don’t know who can help me work on the GED, dumb like me, even if I go to school 100 years I get nothing!! Thank you so much.

Loi, thanks for sharing your story. The GED is a great option for people who come to America from other countries and want to get a better life and a better job. You CAN get your GED. If you feel like you keep going to school and learning nothing, that’s not because you can’t learn. It’s because no one’s teaching you in the way YOU need. You need to find a kind of learning that will work for you. That’s why the GED Academy created the passGED Study Program. Take a look at it. You’ve already been to your local community college…that’s one of the places I’d usually recommend. You might ask a counselor about other adult education classes or special GED classes in the community. Do you have a close friend who can help you study and prepare for the test? Think about what you need, what will help you learn, and how you learn best. Then find the right resources to help you! You can definitely do this!
Good luck!
