…to this day I regret dropping out…
I am 18 years old. I work as a waitress. Also, I have a daughter. She is two years old. I have a wonderful boyfriend, and we have our own apartment. I guess I’m living an ok life, but it could be better!
I stopped going to high school in 9th grade. I just had missed so many days, and I just was going through a very bad time in my life and I was hanging with the wrong people. I wish I would have known it then. Well, then I went to 2 alternatives, but something just wasn’t right. I just didn’t fit in. All the work was just too easy, I mean, all through school I had good grades, but when high school came around everything changed.
I would love to get my GED because to this day I regret dropping out and not getting a high school diploma! I would like to do something with my life. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I love to work with children, and I love being someone to look up too!
One thing that would most definitely help my dreams would to have a good education.

Nicole,
Thanks for sharing your story! Many people regret dropping out of school. They don’t realize the ramifications and consequences that it could have for the rest of their lives. Well, it’s never too late, and you’re starting on the road to get back on track right away! You’ll never regret getting your GED and getting the education you want… but you’ll always regret it if you put it off.
Being a teacher is a wonderful goal. Our world needs more caring, compassionate teachers who can prepare children for the future. As a teacher, you can help make sure that fewer children have trouble later in their education and drop out of school. Congratulations on making a decision to start on the road to a satisfying and important career!
The GED is your first step. Since you were good in school before high school, you probably already have a lot of the skills you need. You may be surprised at how much you know and how well you’ll do! Find out as much as you can about the test. Practice tests are great tools to find out what the GED is really like and what you need to know. Then, find a study program that works for you… and stick to it! The GED is an important step, and it’s just the first step to your dreams.

I feel the same way. I mean I pretty much dropped out in the 9th grade as well.I started getting home schooled because I didn’t like to be teased. Then right after that I found out my dad died so I just shut down and didn’t want to do anything with my life. So I just quit trying. Before I started home schooling I was a almost Strait A+ student. With a GPA of 3.866. I regret every day that I quit school and I am glad I am finally doing something about it. So that when people ask me where I graduated I can tell them and not have to say I was stupid and dropped out.
