I want my GED so I will be able to go to college to be a Registered Nurse.

My name is Christine Walters. I am 20 years old. I live in North Port, Florida with my two kids, a 1 year old and a 4 month. I was born in New York city and lived in the Bronx for most of my life. I decided to come to Florida to change my life. I left school because I was pregnant, and I ended up having preeclampsia and had to leave school to stay on strict bed rest during pregnancy. I want my GED so I will be able to go to college to be a Registered Nurse.

Dreams Become Reality: You guys because I want to be able to get my GED and be able to go to college.

Christine, 20, Florida

Christine,

Congratulations on going back to get your GED! Going through high school with a pregnancy can be hard in any case, and with preeclampsia, there just aren’t any options except bed rest. Missing school through illness is a discouraging setback for anyone.

Everyone has a unique story and situation; with kids, jobs, and other obligations, your life is full. We believe that learning shouldn’t have to be a full-time job in itself, or compete with all the other important parts of your world…that it should be something that fits into your life.

The most important thing you’ve got is a great goal. Nursing is a fantastic, in-demand career, and it’s not too far away, either. Getting your GED is do-able. About a half million people get theirs each year. So, go get it! And let us know about your success.

You will earn your GED and become an RN. As long as you know that you want to better yourself, and give your kids a great life you will live out your dreams. I have a 16 month old and it’s because of him why I’m going so hard. We can do it ladies don’t give up. Good luck:^)
