I want to get my GED to homeschool my kids.
I am a housewife, and I have three kids. I left school in 1988 to get married. I want to get my GED to homeschool my kids.

Pamelia,
Homeschooling is a big undertaking and a wonderful goal. It can bring your family closer together, and you and your children will probably both learn from each other.
If you haven’t checked it out, here’s the South Carolina Department of Education GED site: http://ed.sc.gov/agency/offices/ace/ged/faq.html.
There is also a South Caroline homeschooling information page, which you may have visited: http://www.sciway.net/edu/k12/homeschooling.html.
The GED or a high school diploma is a requirement for homeschoolers in South Carolina, as you know, but taking the GED test is also a good preparation for you to teach your children the skills they’ll be expected to know before entering college. I’m not just talking about reading and math skills, but critical thinking skills, too.
Getting your GED isn’t difficult. You just need to brush up on your high school skills. Definitely take a practice test to see where you’re at, what the test is like, and what you need to study. You might find that you can pass several sections of the GED right away.
