To answer your question, "did I have problems with school?" Boy did I ever! Let me put it this way. I only had one teacher that I really learned from, it was my 8th grade civics teacher. I'll never forget her. The first day of school she said to us, " I have only one requirement in my class, that you show up. There is no homework in my class and no tests. If you show up, I promise you you'll pass my class." I thought is this lady real or what? She was real alright, the realest teacher I ever had. She understood the human mind. She understood the mind needed to be challenged and that you had to keep it interested. She understood that if you could hold it's attention, it would retain a wealth of information. But if it wasn't interested or didn't understand, it wouldn't retain anything.

Not only did I pass her class, but I can tell you to this day everything I learned in her class. Because she, like you, understood what learning was all about. She taught, and I learned. Other teachers lectured and the student's job was to memorize. Since I was no good at either (listening to them lecture or memorizing)I dropped out.
