“World Leader In Training”

When I was about 6 months old I moved into an RV and started traveling all over the world with my parents. My mom made a commitment 30 years ago to make sure all the children of the world are fed. She discovered early on that in order to do that she would need to manifest a change in the way people think about poverty so that it can be ended. She is now about 2 months away from launching a global infrastructure that the people of the world will use to learn together and succeed together in having their dreams come true. So, for all of my 16 – nearly 17 years – my education and life style has been based on being an extraordinary human being who is working to make a difference in the world. On my MySpace I call myself a “World Leader In Training” – that fits me pretty well.

To say the least, my educational experience has been an interesting one. When ever my family would move I would enter in to a different school ( I was lucky enough to begin in California where I was able to start 1 year earlier than other states). I was Home Schooled for bits and pieces of my education and finally left the public school system in 8th grade; but up until recently I have never really enjoyed being home schooled. For some people Home Schooling is great, but for me, well, let’s just say I didn’t treat my education as a blessing I treated it like a curse even though, looking back, I could not have asked for a better one.

Now I am ready to get my Diploma or GED, ready to jump into college 1 to 2 years earlier than my friends my age. About 2 months ago my family moved to Costa Rica and I learned about the EARTH UNIVERSITY here in CR. I became immediately inspired by this amazing school. They offer an Agriculture degree in between a Bachelors and a Majors – I am not crazy about becoming a farm girl and owning a ranch (but I’ll keep it in mind- I love horses and being outside) but I am crazy about the school and the way they teach. One of the core values they teach is sustainability – I am not a fan of Global Warming!- and it is an intimate environment – another big plus for me.

I love Design – but not just the typical sorts of design one usually thinks of- like fashion, decoration, and architecture. I think of design as – simply – how things work – how things are designed. From how a table and chair set can comfortably sit both a person who is 411 and a person who is nearly 7 feet tall- to how a business is run so that all of the people who work there and the customers enjoy being there – to why one species of orchid is pink and another is white with pink stripes. I want to learn the art of how something fits, works, and operates so that needs and wants are met with flying colors. I want to become a Design Counselor with a household name that people talk about when choosing how to decorate their home, where to go out to eat, or what car to buy. I want to hear people say Oh (whatever my household name would be) helped design this! It must be great!

I want to use my education at EARTH to forward this dream. By learning about agriculture I will get to learn an aspect of how the environment works – the design of the environment (from an agricultural standpoint) *yeay*. In doing that it may forward the ‘landscaping’ and ‘exterior’ aspect of my Design Dream. And, now that I think of it, I will learn HOW to learn how something works – so far I just know that is what I want to do. Currently I tend to just look at something and say- oh it shouldn’t be like that – I would do it like this- but that isn’t very positive is it. So far, I don’t look first at why it was designed the way it was designed – that is important. Besides, I don’t like looking at the shape of a room in a building and saying right off the bat ‘I don’t like it’ I want to think ‘Oh this is interesting/different’ first. That feels better – don’t you think?

I am also viewing EARTH as a great way for me to get back into the groove of “school” since I have a hunch I am going to want to continue University after I graduate from Earth. I want to swim with some bigger fish too ya know- like Stanford in California – and I have a feeling that EARTH is going to provide the opportunity for me to learn what I need to learn (how to operate on my own in a College environment). I am so excited!!

I am ready (emotionally) and want to go to College/University. I am going to be starting school 1-2 years sooner than my other classmates – wow- home schooling really has paid off! My mom even commented to my dad, in my presence, as too how they had successfully gotten their job done with me – I had transitioned into adult hood with my innocence and love of life still intact – I no longer need to be “parented” by them, just supported. AMAZING!! Now I just have to get my Math and “high school stuff” up to date. That is where my GED comes in.

My goal is to earn my GED within, roughly, 8 months so that I can begin attending EARTH University in January of 2008. I am looking forward to every second of it!

Im looking for a study buddy or a group of them to do practice problems with, share essays with, dream with, and achieve with.

I am very grateful to passGED.com and it’s creators for putting something so simple together. Before today (I found passGED.com today) I thought that I would have to stumble through an amazingly thick GED test prep book and/or pay a heavy rate to attend a GED course on line. Thanks to you, I am now inspired and breathing easy knowing there are people out there who actually want to be of service to us freaked out GED takers. You have calmed my nerves and I am ready to start learning and helping others to learn. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!
