"I hated high school."
My name is Arthur Tan. Here’s my GED story.
I put off getting my GED for a long time because I figured it was a waste of time. I had a pretty good job, so why bother. Didn’t make sense to go back and learn all that boring stuff from high school again, right? And someone told me the GED wasn’t a real high school diploma anyway.
They were wrong and so was I.
I did some checking and found they score GED so that only 3 out 5 high school seniors can pass it. That means that a lot of people walking around with high school diplomas can’t even pass the GED. I guess that’s why so many colleges accept it.
But what really surprised me was how the stuff I learned for the GED helped me get another job. The main thing I got better at was asking questions. I know that sounds kind of lame, but that’s what impressed the guy I interviewed with. I kept asking him questions about the job and the people I’d work with and he said that’s why he hired me.
So the GED is definitely not a dummies diploma. It got me a better job and a better career. Nothing dumb about that.
